For almost two decades, we’ve danced barefoot on sand, under fireworks, with strangers who instantly felt like family. Sunburn Goa every year was a tradition, a ritual, the pilgrimage to Goa for us and many EDM fans in India.
However, things this year are going to be different as Sunburn Festival announces a historic move! For the first time ever, Sunburn steps out of the shacks of Goa and rises into the skylines of Mumbai for a banging 3-day celebration.

Ranked #8 in DJ Mag’s Top Festivals of 2024, Sunburn continues its legacy of delivering cutting-edge stage design, larger-than-life production, and unparalleled music experiences featuring the world’s biggest artists.
While Goa will always be home to the festival, the decision to shift was driven by a number of logistical challenges that were increasingly impacting the audience experience.
– Cabs & Local Transport: Skyrocketing New Year cab fares and limited transport options made local travel both unpredictable and exhausting for fans.
– Hotels: Accommodation prices in Goa during peak season continued to surge, making it unaffordable for many festival-goers.
– Flights: Limited flight availability and inflated ticket rates increasingly restricted access for fans across India and beyond.
– Local Food & Costs: Basic expenses around food and essentials had become disproportionately high during the festive rush.
– Traffic: Increasing congestion during New Year’s weekends led to severe delays and hampered the ease of movement.
– Festival Experience: To ensure smoother operations, richer fan engagement, premium infrastructure, and a truly world-class festival journey, the move to Mumbai became essential.
The move makes sense, and honestly, it’s for us, the fans. No more battling insane cab fares, overpriced hotels, impossible flight tickets, and traffic jams that eat into your festival hours. Instead, think: easier access, world-class infrastructure, and the kind of energy only Mumbai can bring.
And let’s be real, Mumbai and Sunburn go way back. From Avicii’s legendary debut to unforgettable sets by Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, Martin Garrix, DJ Snake, and Armin van Buuren, the city has been a landmark in India’s live music story. This is just the next chapter.
Sunburn fam, this isn’t the end of an era. It’s the start of the next one. And We’ll be there, front row, when history drops its first beat.
