Can just Tomorrowland make the headlines?

Romania’s award-winning Untold Festival brought its second edition to a close early yesterday morning in spectacular style, rounding off an incredible four days of performances by the world’s best dance and pop acts.

Held in the clubbing hotspot of Cluj-Napoca and spread across 7 stages in and around the spectacular Cluj Arena, Untold Festival won Best Major Festival at the European Festival Awards following its first edition in 2015 as well as the prestigious Brand Of The Year Award in Romania at the Excellence Awards. Untold Festival invests greatly in the decor and the overall experience of the event, the design and construction of the main stage alone took over 800 man hours.

But it’s the praise from those who performed at the festival that really highlights what a quality event it is and what an excellent crowd the Romanian fans make.

“ROMANIA my first ever show here and I fucking loved it!!!” said Martin Garrix on his Instagram after his set. “Thank you for being such an amazing crowd tonight and I’ll be counting down the days until my next show here.”

Perhaps the most enthusiastic about the world capital of night and magic is trance legend Armin van Buuren, who was expected to perform until 5 am, but ended up extending his set until 7 am before kneeling in front of the arena in praise.

Fedde Le Grand was one of the acts who played in the festival’s debut year who helped to spread the word about what a special event it was amongst his peers and fans. “I was so pleasantly surprised by the festival so I actually begged to come back this year. It was so amazing to see such a huge crowd going absolutely crazy at a festival that I actually never had heard of before.”

The eclectic line-up included EDM sensations like Afrojack, Tiësto, Armin Van Buuren and Hardwell, techno and house stars such as Seth Troxler, Eats Everything, Sasha, John Digweed and Jamie Jones, bass heroes like Chase & Status and Netsky and a smattering of pop stars including Ella Eyre, Labrinth, James Arthur and national star Inna. Its blend of styles make it a unique proposition in the area.

After seriously making its mark with an even bigger and better second year, you can expect Untold Festival to keep growing to become one of the world’s premiere festivals. Make sure you get there before the cat is fully out of the bag!
