India based trio Cryosis release their dance pop latest ‘Stay’
Hailing from Mumbai, India, Cryosis is comprised of multi-instrumentalists Siddhant Mishra and Sangeet Patnaik, and singer-songwriter Aakanksha Hejmadi. Their debut single 'Poison' blended powerful vocals with emotive, driving orchestration combining pop and dance music elements. The music video for the song aired on Vh1 India, and the internationally appealing production was popular in the US, Brazil, and around the world.
The next phase of the journey is the band’s latest release ‘Stay’, which expands on Cryosis’ distinct style of melodic electro-pop. 'Stay' blends emotional vocals from lead vocalist Aakanksha, with powerful, driving orchestration featuring Sangeet on guitar and Siddhant on keyboards. Lyrically, ‘Stay’ explores the pain that comes with love, while the video relates specifically to the suffering of the LGBTQ community, whose members have historically faced ostracization from their families and society. Torn from the headlines, this video, directed by Tim Gollar and powered by Ticket Fairy, shines a spotlight on what couples had to go through before the decriminalisation of Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code - an age old law that criminalised homosexuality, as well as the hope heralded by its repeal.
What the band says about “Stay”:
Aakanksha - “Stay is reminiscent of every human relationship, in the sense that only the people you love can truly hurt you. It's like walking into an impending trap but indulging in every second of the experience. I wanted to capture the nuances of love, pain and acceptance, in exactly that order, but not with an in-your-face love song. After all, love isn't just dreamy. Stay is meant to feel dreamy, but at the same time, grueling, like loving someone has always been.”
Sangeet - "Stay is a perfect union of acoustic instrumentation along with electronic elements that helps uplift the storytelling behind the song. Being under progress for about 2 years, the song shows how we evolved as artists and crafted our sound.“
Siddhant - “Stay is all of our respective influences brought together to create a Pop love song. It has a simplistic approach in production with melodic, memorable guitar motifs that are the foundation of the song. There is a synergy between the vocals and the instrumentation. Its like all the elements in the song are working together to tell one story of love..."
About the band: Cryosis is comprised of multi-instrumentalists Siddhant Mishra and Sangeet Patnaik, and singer-songwriter Aakanksha Hejmadi. Siddhant and Sangeet established themselves as a top music writing team, creating TV themes, scores and compositions for world famous brands such as Mercedes, MTV, and BMW, to name just a few. However, their deepest musical passions lay in pop-infused dance music. After Aakanksha collaborated with them on one of the tracks, they became inspired by her unique talent, and with the addition of Aakanksha, Cryosis was born. Cryosis were first discovered at the ADE Mumbai demo listening session, and by the following year's ADE, they won the prestigious ADE "Demolition Panel" chosen as the best demo in all of ADE Mumbai. Following their win, the three spent the next year honing their sound in the studio, and creating a cohesive catalogue of songs which transcend ordinary dance music. In 2018, the band released their single ‘Poison’
