Macklemore joins the Vh1 Supersonic family in 2017

After making the biggest announcement in the history of Dance Music scene by bringing down Eric Prydz for first time in India, Vh1 supersonic add one more legendary artist Macklemore to their Supersonic family.

Benjamin Hammond Haggerty, known by his stage name Macklemore and formerly Professor Mack Lemore, is an American hip hop recording artist from Kent, Washington. His stage name originated from his childhood; it was the name of his made-up superhero. Since 2000, he has independently released one mixtape, three EPs, and four albums. He has significantly collaborated with producer Ryan Lewis as Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

He has been releasing music independently since 2000, and has since gained a significant online fanbase. He has released one mixtape, three EPs and two albums without major label support. His music video “Thrift Shop” has been viewed on YouTube more than 100 million times, and reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts, selling more than 2.2 million copies.

The Language of My World, earned him a local following, but it was his 2010 team-up with DJ/producer Ryan Lewis for the Vs. Redux EP that yielded the Red Hot Chili Peppers-sampling hit “Otherside.” With Macklemore’s wit meeting Lewis’ inventive production, further hits like “My Oh My” and “Can’t Hold Us” were spread throughout social media and video-sharing sites, setting the stage for a successful sophomore release. The duo performed another one of the album’s singles, “Same Love,” at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards during a marriage ceremony for over 30 couples. That night, the duo took the awards for Best New Artist, Best Rap Album, and Best Rap Performance. In 2015, Macklemore & Lewis returned with “Downtown,” the first single from their second collaborative effort, This Unruly Mess I’ve Made. The 2016 album also featured “Kevin,” a song they debuted live at the 2015 American Music Awards with guest star Leon Bridges, along with the elaborate and politically charged second single “White Privilege II.”

Vh1 Supersonic 2017 is exactly a month away now and we cannot wait to witness such diversified lineup at one music festival.
