CME Sit-Down : Thomas Newson

CME Sit-Down : Thomas Newson

One of the hottest names in the dance music industry right now, an artist who is synonymous with Hardwell's revealed recordings, we invited 'Thomas Newson' for a Sit-Down with us.

Hi Thomas, we're glad to have you with us at the Creative Minds Entertainment! Late but nevertheless, a very happy new year to you. 2016 was quite an eventful year for us. How had 2016 been for you and what are you looking forward to the most in 2017?

2016 was crazy first I did the Bus Tour with Hardwell & Kill the Buzz, straight after that I played Ultra Miami for the first time and Tomorrowland for the 3rd year in a row, on top of a couple shows in Ushuaia Ibiza. This year it all comes to new music since I had a writer?s block for more than 6 months. So I'm so curious to what people think of the new stuff I?m gonna release!

You've had quite a number of releases on Revealed Recordings till date. How has your been experience of working in liaison with Revealed & how has it been a boost to your career?

Revealed have supported me since day one. They also do events which I can play at and of course they have a good social media platform, also with the push of Hardwell it will definitely boost your career!

Congratulations on your forthcoming release featuring WILL K - Saxo on Flamingo Recordings. Tell us something about this energetic song & the sounds accompanying it!

Well when I started making the track I found this little vocal loop and immediately had an idea with it. I sent that as a preview to WILL K just for some feedback and at the same time he was working on ?Cafe Leche? which has some same influences, and he said let?s do this one together I have some cool ideas with it. So that?s basically how the collab was born and the track!

Electronic music has been so important in the lives of many for a long time now. What do you think about the electronica industry as a cultural force altogether?

Without electronica there was no DJ scene so in that case it's really important for me.

You've worked with your father Marco V who is also a record producer, a number of times. How creative or messed up do things get when the Father-Son duo get together in the studio?

Well it's the same blood so the connection we have in the studio is so good and we finished like every track we made in a day or 2.

How important is it to form a real relationship with the music you're playing for your own personal approach or for the fans? There are so many tracks out there, is it even possible to build meaningful relationships with a particular piece of music?

I think so, that's different for everyone. Some people fell in love with a hard EDM banger like Pallaroid and some people loved more a track with a vocal. I personally really like Hip Hop at the moment. When I have free time I listen to guys like Big Sean, Migos and Yo GOTTI.

One last question, any message for your fans?

I sell detox tea on Instagram

Thank you Thomas for catching up with us! Keep following us for more.
