Zokhuma represents India at Field Day, London!
SuperdrySounds is a revolutionary platform put together by Superdry India & Submerge in association with Vh1 to take India's music talent to a Global level.
Over the course of last month, the SuperdrySounds program saw 12 exceptionally talented homegrown artists showcase their sounds for a chance to perform at the Field Day Festival in London UK. These 12 artists were selected from different corners of the country and were introduced to music fans who were asked to vote for their favourite artists. The program received overwhelming response from the fans with over 2500 fans voting for their favourite artists. Based on these votes we saw 3 artists emerge as crowd favorites who would then go on to perform at different venues across the city to showcase their talent. Log on to Superdry.in/SuperdrySounds to check them out.
Zokhuma, NDS and 8-Bit Culprit were the chosen ones who then went on to perform at Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore alongside a notable industry stalwart in each city. Nikhil Chinapa, Kohra and Sandunes headliend the SuperdrySounds showcase in Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi respectively. These SuperdrySounds showcase also received a tremendous response with fans flocking the venues to catch their favourite artists perform. Based on decision made by a jury which comprised of industry experts and well known artists from the homegrown circuit, Zokhuma was declared the winner last weekend.
At the bleeding edge of his own future, Zokhuma (Arman Menzies) represents the end of old things, the beginning of new ones, and a forged alliance with those making alternative electronic music in previously uncharted territories. Unafraid to criss-cross between soundscapes you’ve never heard—think frantic, chopped-up African beats or moodier, experimental electronica—and soundscapes that are all too familiar, his sensibilities have a way of putting any audience at ease. As does his infectious energy behind the console. The producer has a mask for every occasion too. Well known in cult progressive metal circles in India for his earlier work song-writing and playing guitar for Goddess Gagged before moving on to study music production in the London, UK, he’s already performed in places like Croatia, Netherlands, and Sri Lanka under his new moniker while cherry-picking his way through local gigs as well.
Zokhuma is playing at the Superdry Stage at Field Day Festival in London today, 1st June. This comes as a great boost for all upcoming artists as SuperdrySounds will serve as a brilliant platform to take our abundant homegrown talent to a global level. We will bring you more updates from Field Day Festival later.
