All About – Jackal

A rising star on Diplo’s Mad Decent label, Jackal is all set for his debut India tour which kicks off tomorrow and is scheduled to bring the house down at Delhi, Mumbai & Indore on the 21st,22nd and 23rd respectively. Before heading out to see him live here’s all you need to know about Jackal.

Jackal or Mikey Pennington as he is known as to his near and dear ones has been musically inclined since the young age of 7 when he learnt how to play instruments such as the guitar drums and the keyboard. In his teenage years Mikey often listened to heavy metal and drum & bass eventually headed off to the University of Canterbury to study music technology where he slowly began to produce his tracks in which he used his experience in playing the guitar and drums along with his heavy metal influences bringing them together to form the chart topping drum and bass tracks that has now made him famous the world over especially after seeing the rise of Skrillex in 2011 which inspired him to full commit to producing music.

Since starting out Jackal has gone on to release numerous tracks one of his biggest tracks being ‘Let Me Tell You Something‘ which is his collaboration with Grandtheft which he released on Diplo’s record label ‘Mad Decent’ and also his very own original track ‘Bubblegum’ with CRNKN but his career rose to new heights in 2013 with his track ‘Shakedown’ which soon got an uptempo remix by LOUDPVCK and has gained over two million plays on Soundcloud.

His track ‘Chinchilla’ which he released in 2014 was another big track for him which got over 200,000 plays in just the first week since its release and his recent track ‘Animal Style’ that he released just a few months back has even gone on to rack up over 2 million plays. Since starting out this lad has certainly come a long way from producing tracks in his bedroom to playing at some of the biggest festivals in the world such as EDC and has even toured all over the world and when it comes to his music, he has gained support from some of the biggest names in the dance music industry such as Skrillex, Diplo and Zeds Dead to name a few.

Jackal still has a long way to go and we’re sure he has a lot more to offer and we are absolutely stoked to see him take over the console and treat us to those smashing tracks of his soon. You can find tickets and more info on the events below.
